Not too often can I say that standing in a place of a battle in the Napoleonic wars.
Having stopped on a trip to a vineyard in Portugal the coach was running 30 minutes early for the arrival time at the vineyard so all off the coach. The guide walked us up to the Church with a bridge next to it and said in the Napoleonic war this side of the bridge was held by the Portuguese for some time , The walls of the church you can see marks in the wall from French gun fire.
