The making and playing the D Day game at R.E.M.E. Museum Lyneham 8th and 9h June 2024 Club members came up with the Idea last year of a D Day game for the 80th anniversary . As a club we have not done a demo game trust us to do a big one for the first one I volunteered to the trenchers with one proviso that had to be put at the end of the beach you know the sandy bit ok. Now wooden sticks order 1000 from E bay had a few of them from going to coffee shops to staring the coffee but not more than a few.
James set about making you the boards beach and fields
Beach boards out side drying off with trenchs on
Having done my bit with the trenchers have we got any barbwire to put in front of the trenches . Nope ok ill have a go got a roll of fuse wire some place .No that did work to stiff on the phone to my friend Mike any ideas try grey cotton that works.
While Jame and I are working on the easy bits Richard said he would make up the bunkers . And boy did he all to scale all made from wood .

25/28mm French Old Guard

25/28mm French old Guard French Old Guard Hinchliffe figures Earley 1970 started painting my few Old Guard French figures all Hinchliffe ones back then all we had to put on the bases was coloured sawdust sold in the model shops ( well that’s what I call it) held in place by emulsion paint . Having got lots of use since then I thought it’s a bought time, I up graded them with some nice flock . So far so good then look at the dust on the figures Started to remove dust with a wet paint brush trying not to nock of too many bayonets from the figures. Found an old paint brush to apply PVA then into the flock box ( Ice cream tub ) time well spent I hope ,

Can you have enough Archers?

Can you have enough Archers? Good question for a 24-points army using Lion Rampant game maybe 1 or 2 units. For a larger game then why not have more units of Archers or do you go for more men at arms? My 5 units of Archers are made up from Hincliffe @ Perry @ and some I picked up from Devizes show this year making 60 figures in all.

Lion Rampant came at the Calne Wargames club

Lion Rampant game at the Calne Wargames club Some of the lads at the club want to play a 3 a sided game of lions rampant and knowing that I had a castle so that was the game. My castle I defend it . 72 points per side no problem. James spent Monday night making up some scaling ladders for his very nice and new Swiss troops to use. One of the best parts of the game was me trying to fire a cannon at the add advancing troops .After the first round that I fired all dice rolls to lode it failed all night . Each time it happened all the old joke came out with all of us having a good laugh . Needles to say the rest of the of my dice rolls was just as bad and with the right-hand flank having the same luck as me with all out generals out of the game. Morale gone and my last two units on the left flank when off the table one go the attackers won the game.Club nights Tuesday nights from 6 to 9 at the Calne springs show room.
